Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro have arrived in China, and now it’s time for their global launch. While Oppo has kept the exact dates of global unveil under wraps, we anticipate the launch will occur in the next few weeks. Ahead of the launch, Oppo is revealing a few more details. It previously revealed that both the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro are camera-focused premium smartphones, complete with Hasselblad tuning. Now Oppo is confirming that the global variants of the Find X8 will feature a dual periscope camera system with Triple Prism Fold Reflection System.
Lots of big words. But let’s unpack.
Essentially, Oppo has confirmed that the global versions of the upcoming Find X8 series will feature a quad-camera system with GenAI features, such as AI-backed Telescope Zoom, an advanced HyperTone Image Engine, Dolby Vision video recording, and 4-mic Spatial Audio. The devices will also offer Hasselblad Portrait mode, a Master Mode for granular control over camera settings, and Lightning Snap, which the company claims can capture 100 photos in 30 seconds.
Oppo claims that its Find X8 series will feature a first-of-its-kind dual periscope camera system. This setup includes 3X and 6X optical zoom lenses, which sounds unique as well as has potential to be genuinely useful to users when they are clicking subjects from a distance.
One of the telephoto cameras in the Find X8 phones houses a 50-megapixel LYT-600 sensor. To accommodate this large 1/1.95″ sensor, Oppo says that it has developed a 3X Triple Prism Folded Lens — another part that seems unique and innovative — that reduces weight by 30 per cent and size by 24 per cent compared to the telephoto lens in the Find X7. Another camera in the phone is a 50-megapixel camera using IMX858-sensor and a 6X periscope lens, complete with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).
The Find X8 Series will features dual periscope camera system with a Triple Prism Fold Reflection System.
Completing the setup, the Find X8 series will have a primary 50-megapixel camera equipped with Sony’s LYT-808 sensor. As it happens with the high-end sensors nowadays, this one too seems like a stacked sensor, with Oppo saying that it has “photodiode and the pixel transistor on separate layers” and hence in photos “significantly enhances dynamic range, reduces noise, and maximises light capture.”
Apart from the hardware, Oppo claims that it has also worked on the image processing for the cameras in its upcoming flagship phones. The Find X8 series has better HDR processing and an improved HyperTone Image Engine.
With AI now central to new tech, Oppo has also integrated AI capabilities in the camera processing of its latest flagship. The company reveals that the Find X8 series will come with AI-powered Telescope Zoom, using generative AI algorithms to zoom into subjects while preserving clarity and accuracy, even at extreme zoom levels from 10x-20x, 20x-60x, and up to 120x. Also included are improvements in the video capture. The Find X8 series phones support Dolby Vision capture.
Recently when Apple launched the iPhone 16 Series phones, we saw them coming with the Camera Control button. The Oppo Find X8 phones are set to come with a similar button. Oppo is calling it Quick button. This button would allow users to launch the camera interface with a single touch.
At the same time, the Hasselblad tuning continues. On Thursday, Oppo shared additional details on its collaboration with Hasselblad for the upcoming flagship phones. The company says that the Find X8 series would introduce Hasselblad Camera Mode, bringing portrait settings inspired by Hasselblad’s medium-format style, along with adjustable focal lengths and natural bokeh effects.
